Mary McDonald

Mary McDonald serves as chief information officer at USMD. In this role, McDonald oversees all operational aspects and functions of the IT Department. Before joining USMD, she served 30 years in various positions. These positions ranged from roles in IT to roles on different business teams within UnitedHealthGroup.

McDonald always knew she wanted to work in health care because she wanted to make sure her work mattered and made a difference to others. In high school, she pictured herself as a physical therapist, but later found a love for the operational side of health care.

She was fascinated by the level of impact she could make on people’s lives by working behind the scenes to help make the health system work better for everyone.

McDonald’s favorite part of the job has been the same since she started. She loves interacting with the people she works with, whether those are customers or colleagues. Currently, she lives in Shakopee, Minnesota, with her husband, Tom.

She has two stepdaughters and five beautiful grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoys coaching girls volleyball with her husband.
